Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the people in our group don’t like beer/cider, will there be other drinks available?

Yes, the venue’s own bar will be open serving their normal range of alcoholic and soft drinks, except for beer and cider.

Are children allowed?

Yes, children (under the age of 18) are allowed in the venue, free of charge, before 8:30pm. Children must be supervised at all times. Licensing restrictions in Northern Ireland mean they cannot remain after this time.

How will I be able to pay?

Our bar will accept direct debit/credit card purchases or pre-purchased token cards. Token cards with a value of either £5 or £10 will be available for purchase by either cash or card. Cash will not be directly accepted at the bar.

So I have to pay by card?

No, absolutely not. If you want to pay by cash, just buy a prepaid token card with cash.

What about unused balance on token cards?

We’d encourage you to donate unused cards to our festival charity, and we’ll give them the remaining balance. We can refund whole pound amounts on cards (so if you have £3.30 left on a card, and ask for a refund then we’ll give you £3 back).

How much will the drinks cost?

The vast majority of beers and ciders will be priced between £2.40 and £3.30 per half pint. We recommend people drink smaller measures to sample our great range of beers. A small number of the stronger and more expensive to make beers will cost up to £2.90 per 3rd pint (and not be available in larger serves).

What is the Festival charity?

There will be a charity at the festival, running some traditional bar games and collecting unused tokens. We’re still finalising some details with our charity, and will update this page to let you know who they’ll be once we can make that information public.

Will there be food?

Yes, we’re working on some great food offerings from Hi Burger and Bodega Bagels who are permanently located in the Banana Block. We also hope to bring some extra options from other vendors.

What about music/entertainment?

There’ll be music in the evenings, giving you a great background to drink your beer and cider and chat with fellow beer-lovers. Friday and Saturday will be helped along with some great local musicians, check out our entertainment page for more information.

Whose beers will be there?

We’ll bring you beer from every Northern Irish brewery we can, and we’ll have a great selection of beers from wider afield, across the UK & Ireland. The full beer and cider list is live.

Where’s the beer and cider list?

It’s here.

Where can I get a ticket?

Tickets can be found here

Do I really need a ticket? Can’t I just pay on the door?

There will be a small number of tickets available to purchase on the door, but to guarantee your entry we strongly recommend you buy your ticket in advance.

How long can I stay for?

The festival is open from midday to 10:30pm every day. You may stay for as long as you like.

Can I leave and come back?

If you keep your wrist strap on you may re-enter on the same day, if there is still space.

Do I only get one glass? What if it gets dirty?

We will have a drinking water and glass rinsing station on our bar that you can use to clean your glass.

Can I get a drink of water?

Yes, you can fill your own glass or bottle with drinking water at our water station.

Who’s organising this?

The festival is organised and staffed entirely by volunteers with the backing of CAMRA

Who are CAMRA?

CAMRA are a national consumer organisation, campaigning for and supporting good beer and cider in good pubs

Why can’t I get good beer in most pubs in Northern Ireland?

Therein lies a story too long for this page. We’re campaigning for reform to the structural problems which we believe are holding back good beer across Northern Ireland’s pubs and bars. Come along to our discovery zone in our festival for some samples and a chat about the problems.

What can I do about it?

Join CAMRA, the more members we have, the more we’ll be listened to.

Can I bring my dog along?

Yep, the venue and event are dog friendly if they’re well-behaved. We’re afraid we will have to ask dogs to leave if they misbehave and upset other visitors.
